Sandal Season

The sun is out and it is getting hot! It is time to bring out those sandals and we seem to have built up a collection. We recommend you have a variety – one that you could wear all day, one that is a little bit more trendy for the evenings, one that has a bit of a platform and whatever else you can throw in there. You can never go wrong with some good looking sandals.

Oscar de la Renta

This week the world lost one of it’s great designers. He dressed the “ladies that lunch” and was famous for his Red Carpet designs. He has been dressing the stars for years – from Jackie Kennedy and Hilary Clinton right through to Taylor Swift and Amal Clooney. Here we celebrate his wonderful creations.

The best places to shop: NYC

One of us is lucky enough to be in New York City right now. Besides eating all the delicious food, visiting some sights and catching up with friends, a lot of the time has been spent shopping (because why not?). Here are some of the best areas and places not to miss when in The City.
Soho (each side of Broadway – Prince and Spring st)
Soho is a shoppers paradise with so many options ranging from the big brands to little boutique shops. When shopping in this area don’t miss Rag & Bone, Will Leather Goods and Baby Blue.
5th Ave (between 42nd and 57th)
One of the most well known Ave’s in the world – 5th Ave has all the big brands. Don’t miss Zara, Uniqlo, H&M, Victoria Secrets, Nike and so much more.
The other side of the bridge (Brooklyn/Williamsburg)
When venturing out of Manhattan itself and heading over to trendy Brooklyn and Williamsburg don’t miss out on the Brooklyn Markets, Szeki and Catbird.
Meatpacking District and West Village
Start at Chelsea Markets (where you can find Anthropologie) and then continue along the High Line before getting off at the Meatpacking District where you can find labels such as Dianne von Furstenberg, Joie and Christian Louboutin.

Race fashion: the dress

Spring Carnival is not only about the horses but it’s also about the fashion. Now we’ve got our fascinator sorted it is time to think about the dress. If you are entering into official members areas strict dress codes do apply, but with the general public they are more lenient. Each race day has a signature look – so if you want to stick to the trends stick to the following:
AAMi Victoria Derby Day – black and white

Emirates Melbourne Cup Day – bright, bold and striking colours

Work hard, play even harder

Most of our time is spent in an office working the typical 9-5 job. This therefore leaves the only time to go out and socialise straight after shift (besides the weekend of course). Yes you can go from work into the night with the same clothes on but why not dress up a little to suit the occasion? Here are some ideas of how you can add or change your accessories so your work outfit turns into a glamorous, hot evening outfit.

Race fashion: the fascinator

Spring is finally upon us which only means one thing: Melbourne Cup! We have a couple more months to prepare for this prestigious event so we better get cracking. Starting from the top, the fascinator is the masterpiece of the whole outfit. It is usually best to start from here and work your way down tying the rest of the outfit in with the headpiece. There are so many options that can be taken with a fascinator – you can go big, small, floral, netted or hatted but overall wearing something on your head is a must. There are so many to choose from but here a few that have caught our eye so far.
